My Life Story
I awoke very early on that momentous morning. I was so thrilled. This was going to be one of the best days of my life!! As I sat in my room thinking about getting ready to go to the ceremony, I knew that everything I had been working towards for the past five years was about to pay off. Finally, it was getting close to the time we would leave. My mom hollered in at me to get ready. As we piled into the car, I noticed what a warm and beautiful sunny afternoon it was. The sun was shining, and I was starting to get very nervous and excited about what was about to transpire!
While I drove to the church with my mom and dad, I became even more nervous, and I started to really feel the butterflies. When we finally arrived at our destination, I saw many my family and friends filling into the church. I had been in that building many times before, but that day the church seemed like a huge castle, one that you might see over in Germany. The tall stained glass windows were shining in the bright sunlight and the huge columns stood like guards at the doors.
As I stepped inside the church my palms were sweaty, my knees were shaking and my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. The ceremony was going to be very special. My friends and family had traveled from near and far to join me on this extraordinary day. My speaker walked slowly to microphone. He looked directly at me, and then he told the audience about me and my accomplishments. It was a very proud moment for me. As the ceremony came to a close, I looked around the crowded room. Peoples’ faces were in “aw” and some were even crying. The speaker approached me, and I started to feel the butterflies again and my knees became week. Before I knew it, he grasped my hand with a firm grip and said, “Congratulations, Joe, you have now attained the rank of Eagle Scout”.
